A Fractured Fairytale- Night is here, a passionless moon is rising. I sit here stunned and left for dead. So many things remind me of your absence. An empty pillow by my head. The carnival noise surrounded us, but, the laughter inside was gone and the dirge that serenaded then invaded took away your love. I'm numb and I thought I might die without you. Another day, at least the sun is shining, but, inside all is cold and dead. You are gone, but, still your presence lingers. Your laugh still echoes in my head. A porcelain rose is shattered by the heartbreak inside our home and it seems now nothing matters. Pain is scattered by the hand of love that's stung and a part of me dies without you. I believed in love at first sight but, now I'm not sure I'm right to think that way. I tried so hard to make it nice with romance and the ideal of love that burned inside me reaching for you. The melodrama thickens as the walls are closing in and the lunatic's fearful laugh escapes his lifeless grin. The violins are singing and with each note his heart breaks a little more, I'm suffering in silence now that I'm away from you. You once told me that you loved me, but, then you said we're through. But, you wrote it down in a letter, things you couldn't say to my face. After years of perfect passion how could it fade without a trace? Something has come between us and even though we might be through a part of you stays inside me and a part of me stays in you. Something has come between us and even though you're glad we're through a part of you lives inside me and a part of me dies in you. Another day, at least the sun is shining, but, inside all is cold and dead. You are gone, but, still your presence lingers. Your laugh still echoes in my head. A porcelain rose is shattered by the heartbreak inside our home and it seems now nothing matters. Pain is scattered by the hand of love that's stung. Now the rest of me dies without you. The fairytale has an ending, but, it's sad and without bliss. The prince no longer has his princess. He'll stay a frog without her kiss. We're living in a make-believe world. We live in once upon a time. Copyright 2023 J. Brower

The Great Escape- Your latest confession is echoing loud infecting the church hall. Behind the torn curtain you sit and you ramble away. Do you mean what you say? You know what you started so finish it now. You can't 'cause the engines are stalling. So go on avoiding the problem of how. Be cold and your skin will be crawling. A life of frustration throws you around showing no mercy. What's left but salvation? You get on your knees and you pray. Will you have hell to pay? The nails from a dogwood puncture a cloud. Lookout, the heavens are falling! The blood of damnation soils your shroud. Listen, the coroner's calling you. You've lost your direction, your feet miss the ground, you're running in circles. Without hesitation you turn and you throw life away. Do you want it this way? Event of the season! Look at the crowd! Your great escape leaves them applauding! Houdini would love you and be so proud. A voice from the grave will be calling. You know what you started so finish it now. You can't 'cause the engines are stalling. So go on avoiding the problem of how. Be cold and your skin will be crawling. The nails from a dogwood puncture a cloud. Lookout, the heavens are falling! The blood of damnation soils your shroud. Listen, the coroner's calling you. Return to Earth- Nasa, there's nothing out there the stars are closer then we've ever dreamed. Children, don't change the channel. The stars are closer than your television screen. It's bigger and it's brighter than anything you've ever seen. Return to earth all you astronauts all you scientists and soldiers you sailors of the seven seas you great romantic dreamers you ancient saints of poetry you dancing suns and streamers of light. Sunshine, you never noticed the light inside you. It's everything you need. Moonbeams dance on the water. Heaven is calling from beyond your wildest dreams. It's bigger and it's brighter than anything you've ever seen. Return to earth all you astronauts all you scientists and soldiers you sailors of the seven seas you great romantic dreamers you ancient saints of poetry you dancing suns and streamers of light. Come home. I used to look up at the stars thinking how will I get that far? I left that child so far behind I closed her eyes I blew her mind I laughed at all her schemes and dreams I was so sure but now it seems that by our latest calculations it's a universe of music the missing link the smallest piece the end of the equation the circle of infinity has found its destination Return to earth all astronauts. Nasa, there's nothing out there. The stars are closer than we've ever dreamed. Moonbeams dance on the water. Heaven is calling from beyond your wildest dreams. It's bigger and it's brighter than anything you've ever seen. Return to Earth. Remember what you're fighting for. Surrender 'cause there is no war. Return to Earth. Copyright 2023 A. Amor

Duel in the Sun- Deep in the West a bold contest was scheduled for the next afternoon because a fight on poker night happened in the saloon. All that was known- some chairs were thrown and tables overturned in the scuffle and some accused the man a cheat because the cards weren't shuffled. The dancers all screamed as the chaos went on but, the piano player kept on singing his song and banging the keys. The bartender hid and cowered behind the bar but, not before he grabbed his tips from the jar. Duel in the sun. The clock strikes twelve. The tolling bell proclaims the time to be high noon and in the street the townfolk meet by the famous saloon. Now, back to back they walk the crack- Fifteen paces under the sun, then stop and turn with their hands frozen right over their guns. Then as if in slow motion it was over and done. They both hit their targets, they hit them dead on now, bullet holes bleed. The townfolk are silent as the tumbleweeds stray and the old undertaker measures them right away. Duel in the sun. Everything's back to normal, safe and sound, as the bartender serves another round. Now, the townfolk begin to settle down as the cold sun goes down upon the town. Copyright 2023 J. Brower

The Harlequin's Carnival- The big top holds the audience and soon the laughter will commence. But, first the march has to be played to usher in the freak parade. Applause makes their hands sting. The harlequin has all the power. The clock he holds controls the hour. The hungry lions will devour our most humble feast. Magic lives in everything they see. Reality has changed to fantasy. The barker shouts through megaphone- "Leave all your doubts and fears at home. You're in for stranger things!" The harlequin has all the power. The clock he holds controls the hour. The hungry lions will devour our most humble feast. The carnival has come to town bringing relief in all they found and all that they want to know. The carnival goes on for hours but, still the lions will devour all that we want to know. Life and love are all around. The world holds magic powers. Sunlight shines on the door of you. And now the silly games are played with all the masks of life's charade. And everything is so sublime inside the wondrous pantomime entwined in the three rings. The harlequin has all the power. The clock he holds controls the hour. The hungry lions will devour my most humble feast. Sometimes living in a world of dreams isn't what it seems. It takes a little bad to make the good serene. Every time that we dream it's never what it seems. It conceals the fact from telling us all that we want to know. Copyright 2023 J. Brower
